HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
It was another Funglish October! At Yoshida Elementary School, students had a fantastic time with special Halloween lessons and fun Funglish Time activities!
今月もFun Englishな10月でした!吉田小学校では、ハロウィーンの特別授業やファングリッシュタイムの活動で、子供たちは素晴らしい時間を過ごしました!た!
Everyone learned about different Halloween characters and joined the energetic Halloween Freeze Dance.
ハロウィーンのキャラクターについて学んだり、元気いっぱいのハロウィーン・フリーズ・ダンスに参加したりしました。
If teachers had to pick the best dancers, it would be impossible because everyone danced so well.
子供たちの中からベストダンサーを選ぶのがむずかしいくらい、みんな、ダンスがとても上手でした。
We also played “Witches Went to Town,” where students dressed up as witches, raced on their broomsticks and answered fun English challenges. It was amazing to hear everyone cheering, “You can do it!” This encouragement helped everyone reach their goals!
私たちは、子供たちが魔女に扮し、ほうきにのって競争し、楽しい英語の課題に答える「魔女が町にやってきた」をプレイしました。みんなの 「You can do it!」という声援は素晴らしかったです。この励ましが、みんなの目標達成を後押ししました!
During Funglish Time, students worked in teams to find Halloween-themed puzzle pieces and assemble their favorite characters. It was amazing to hear students confidently asking, “How do you say がいこつ, 魔女, and other characters in English?”
ファングリッシュタイムでは、子供たちはチームに分かれてハロウィーンをテーマにしたパズルのピースを探し、好きなキャラクターのパズルを組み立てました。その時に子供たちが自信をもって、「がいこつ、魔女、その他のキャラクターは英語で何と言うのですか?」と英語で質問しているのを聞いて、驚きました。

LET’S MEET OUR NEW ALT!
Yoshida Elementary School welcomed the new ALT, Sami Sensei. This month was busy as we wrapped up lessons across all grade levels, and Sami Sensei did her self-introduction lessons. Everyone was thrilled to guess Sami Sensei's favorites, and Sami Sensei felt equally delighted listening to students' self-introductions. Some students even prepared questions in English to ask Sami Sensei.
吉田小学校に新しいALT、サミー先生がやってきました。今月は1学期の授業が終了し、サミー先生の自己紹介の授業もあり、盛りだくさんでした。みんなはサミー先生のお気に入りのものを当てるのに大喜びで、サミー先生もこどもたちの自己紹介を聞いて同じように喜んでいました。中には、先生への質問を英語でする児童もいました。
We had wonderful Funglish activities this month. Students enjoyed conversing with Sami Sensei and asking her different questions during Funglish Time. Arts and craft club members made slime with the ALTs.
今月も充実したFunglish活動がありました。Funglish Timeでは、生徒たちはサミー先生と会話を楽しみ、様々な質問をしました。図工クラブではALTも一緒にスライムを作りました。
Members of the broadcasting team also fluently announced information about the school lunch. We had Filipino food “pansit and sopas.” Did you like it? In the Philippines, we eat “pansit” during birthdays to wish for a long life.
放送チームのメンバーも英語を使って、上手に給食のメニューをアナウンスしました。フィリピン料理の 「パンシットとソパ 」を食べました。いかがでしたか?フィリピンでは、誕生日に長寿を願って「パンシット」を食べます。

LAST FUNGLISH LESSONS WITH SHAIRA SENSEI
Since, it was the last lesson with Shaira Sensei, fifth and sixth-grade students had a great time playing games “Hot Seat” and “True or False” games. Students did great saying English hints for her to unlock the mystery word. Their gestures were funny and amazing, too!
シャイラ先生との最後のレッスンということで、5年生と6年生は「Hot Seat」と「True or False」のゲームで盛り上がりました。生徒たちは、シャイラ先生にある答えを出させるために英語のヒントを言うのがとても上手でした。彼らのジェスチャーも面白く、素晴らしかった!
Fourth graders of Yoshida and Nyu ES had a video message exchange activity, so they recorded their self-introduction. They were able to spell their names correctly and say “Let’s play dodgeball in Sakura Shougakkou.” Third graders delivered their speech presentation about their favorite kanji and how many strokes.
吉田ESと丹生ESの4年生は、ビデオメッセージの交換をするために、自己紹介を録画しました。自分の名前を正しく綴り、"さくら小学校でドッジボールをしよう "と言うことができました。3年生は、自分の好きな漢字や画数について発表しました。
Second graders and first graders can confidently count from 1-10 in English. With clear voice and nice smiles, they talked with their friends and asked each other “How many?”

First graders learned different feelings and emotions like awesome, full, so, so and not so good. They can now ask and answer the question “How are you?” in English with awesome gestures.

Second graders practiced English words to express their feelings. They were able to ask and answer “How are you?” and give appropriate reactions to show understanding of what others were feeling.
2年生は、自分の気持ちを表現するえいごのことばをれんしゅうしました。「How are you?」 と尋ねたり答えたりすることができ、相手の気持ちを聞いて適切なリアクションをすることができました。

Third graders learned how give proper response on the question “How are you?” by saying “great, me too, Oh, no. They are also confident now in counting 1-20 in English.

Fourth graders gained confidence in saying different weather conditions in English. They enjoyed playing “Nanay, Tatay” handclap game, a popular Philippine children’s game. Let’s teach other Yoshida kids how to play it!
4年生は、英語でいろいろな天気のいい方を学び自信をつけました。フィリピンの子どもたちに大人気の手拍子ゲーム「ナナイ、タタイ」を楽しみました。他の吉田っ子にも教えてあげてね。

Fifth graders did an amazing job in introducing their selves with the new English teacher using google slides. Everyone was so confident during the presentation while observing clear voice, eye contact, gesture and speed. Nice work 5th graders.
5年生は、新しい英語の先生にgoogleスライドを使って自己紹介をしました。はっきりとした声、アイコンタクト、ジェスチャー、そして聞きやすい、スピードにきをつけながら。よくできました5年生。

Sixth graders were getting ready for their “Selfie Poster” exchange activity with students of Nyu Elementary School and Ichinomiya Elementary School. They could say their routines such as “I get up at 7 AM.” “I play baseball at 1PM.” Please look forward to it!
6年生は、丹生小学校と一宮小学校の子供達との交流活動でつかうじぶんのことポスタの準備をしていました。彼らは自分たちの日課をよく言い表すことができていました。私は朝7時に起きます。私は午後1時に野球をします。というように。次回をおたのしみに。

The sixth graders were preparing posters for themselves to use in exchanging activities with children from Nyu Elementary School and Ichinomiya Elementary School. They were able to describe their daily routines well. I get up at 7am. I play baseball at 1pm. And so on. Look forward to the next one.
